Josep M. Nadal-Fernandez
I am an Education Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC) Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Michigan State University. I received my Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

I am an applied economist exploring topics in labor economics, the economics of education, and public economics.

My current work in education focuses on understanding the impact of teacher labor market rigidities, such as heightened employment protection through tenure, as well as their relaxations, such as teacher retirement policies, emphasizing their interaction with school competition exposure.

My other ongoing research delves into the market factors shaping the effectiveness of interventions including the general equilibrium effects of large-scale public programs, the interplay between federal and state policies, rapid expansions of education policies, and downstream market responses in low-and middle-income countries.
